Niacinamide is the amide form of the B vitamin niacin. Niacinamide has a wide range of uses in the body. It has an anti-anxiety effect that is equivalent to benzodiazepine medications. It is closely tied to energy production, and in fact is one of the central nutrients involved in all cellular ATP production. Niacinamide also sensitizes cancer cells to the effects of radiation, and so is an important component of many complementary cancer treatment programs.
