How do I taper off if I've been on prednisone for a while, and I want to try weaning off? Do I reduce the number of drops or reduce the volume?

My OH was prescribed 15mg of prednisone for Polymyalgia Rheumatica, an auto immune problem causing a lot of pain. He had been on an anti-inflammatory diet but neither that or anything else could stop the ongoing pain. So he succumbed. But the rheumatologist advised to go down to 10mg after a month, if he could. He tried, but he got severe pain back in his shoulders so went back to 15mg. I’m just wondering if he took this IC into water perhaps it might help him to try again? Any thoughts. How many imprints would be best? Would he take 50ml three times a day, or possibly any other recommendations? He wants to wean off the prednisone as soon as he can. Thanks for any advice.
