Goji berries, often promoted as a “superfood”, have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. They are nutrient-rich (containing such vitamins and minerals as copper, vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin C, iron, and selenium), packed with powerful antioxidants (including carotenoids, lycopene, lutein, and polysaccharides), and provide over 11 essential amino acids. Goji berries may be used to help slow down the effects of aging, improve skin health, protect against cancer, improve blood sugar levels, improve cholesterol levels, prevent liver damage, boost energy levels, aid in weight loss, boost immune system function, help with the menstrual cycle, protect eyes against age-related diseases, improve depression and anxiety-like behaviors, and enhance sleep quality.
