Elderberry is a dark purple berry packed with nutrients and antioxidants (including anthocyanins and flavonoids). It is referred to as one of the worldโs top healing plants. There are various types of elderberry plants; however, the European variety (known as Sambucus nigra) is commonly used for health purposes. Elderberry may be used to help boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, fight bacterial infections, decrease stress, combat acne, reduce wrinkles, and support heart health. Elderberry may also be used to help treat colds and flu, constipation, headaches, kidney concerns, joint and muscle pain, and sinus infections.
