Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), also called somatomedin C, is a 70-amino acid polypeptide hormone that is structurally similar to insulin. It is primarily produced in the liver and its production is stimulated by growth hormone (GH). Together, IGF-1 and GH promote nitrogen retention and an increase in protein synthesis, as well as promote normal bone and tissue growth. IGF-1 may be used to help build muscle mass, enhance physical performance, support muscle recovery, reduce recovery time after injuries, improve cognitive function, increase bone density, reduce body fat, regulate sugar levels, increase metabolism, and promote healthy aging.
IGF-1 LR3 is a lengthened version of IGF-1 (83 amino acids vs. 70 amino acids) with arginine as the third amino acid in its sequence (rather than glutamic acid). This synthetic construct of IGF-1 has a half-life of about 20-30 hours and is more potent than IGF-1 (but less potent than IGF-1 DES). Besides the above uses, IGF-1 LR3 may be used to help enhance cell division and growth, boost fat metabolism, and increase muscle repair and hypertrophy.
