Psyllium husk is a fiber derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant and is a prebiotic, which assists the nourishment of good bacteria in the gut. Psyllium husk is commonly used to treat constipation but may also be used to lower blood sugar levels, aid with weight loss, help with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and Crohn’s disease, lower cholesterol levels, and promote heart health.
