Olive leaves are rich in oleuropein (a bitter glucoside), elenolic acid, hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, and rutin. These elements are known to have antioxidant properties. Olive leaves may be used to help control blood pressure, manage blood sugar and cholesterol levels, boost energy, help with asthenia and drowsiness, promote metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates, strengthen immune system, detoxify the body, and help maintain a feeling of youthfulness as well as a general sense of well being. Additionally, olive leaves have been shown to have vasoprotective and vasodilating properties.
