Glycine is the smallest and simplest amino acid. While the body naturally produces a small amount of glycine, it is also available through protein-rich foods. Glycine is necessary to produce glutathione (an important antioxidant), collagen, creatine, bile, hemoglobin, and most proteins. Some of the health benefits of glycine include improve sleep quality, promote relaxation, support healthy glucose and fructose metabolism, improve mood, support cognitive health, boost mental performance and memory, protect the heart, reduce muscle wasting, protect the skin from signs of aging, and lower inflammation.
