Serrapeptase, also known as serratiopeptidase, is a proteolytic enzyme found in silkworms. It is commonly used in Japan and Europe to reduce inflammation and pain caused by surgery, trauma, and/or other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. It may also be used to prevent infections, dissolve blood clots, decrease mucus, help with chronic respiratory diseases, decrease migraine headaches and tension headaches, aid with gut and liver issues, treat sore throats, assist with ear infections, and help treat heart disease and atherosclerosis.
