Ubiquinol and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a.k.a. ubiquinone, are both powerful antioxidants, but they are not the same โ€“ ubiquinol is the active form of CoQ10. Ubiquinol is used in the production of cellular energy. The body can convert ubiquinone to ubiquinol; however, aging, intense training, and certain medications like statins may comprise the conversion of ubiquinone to ubiquinol in the body. As a result, ubiquinol is excellent for athletes and seniors. Ubiquinol may be used to boost energy, help with heart health, maintain normal cholesterol levels, and support the health of blood vessels. It may also be used to prevent migraines.
