Shingles, or Herpes Zoster, is a disease caused by the reactivation of the varicella zoster virus within a person’s body. This is the same virus which causes chickenpox. Even after the chickenpox infection is over, the virus may remain inactive in your nervous system for years before reactivating as Shingles. Shingles is characterized by red rashes and painful skin blisters in localized area. Other symptoms may include fever, chills, headache, exhaustion, nausea, nerve inflammation, sensory loss, facial paralysis, multiple sclerosis, muscle weakness, emotional and stress sensitivity, mood swings, and fatigue.
