Drotaverine is used to treat spasms of the smooth muscles usually in the stomach and heart. It can also be used for spasms related to proctitis, tenesmus, pylorospasm, gastroduodenitis, and gastric and duodenal ulcer. Drotaverine has been used to relieve pain caused by irritable bowel syndrome, menstrual periods, and is also used to relieve cervical spasm during labor. It can also be used for chest pain, abdominal pain, pain in the kidneys caused by stones, pain in renal colic and other conditions.
