Mullein is a plant that has been used for thousands of years in herbal medicine. Its leaves act as a demulcent, which is a substance that relieves irritation in the body’s mucus membranes. Mullein leaves may be used to help with upper respiratory tract infections, coughs, bronchitis, earaches, colds, chills, flu, fever, tonsillitis, mucus in the lungs, asthma, and skin conditions. It may also be used to help reduce anxiety and promote calmness.
