Black cohosh is a perennial plant native to Eastern North America that has long been used as an herbal remedy for various conditions by Native Americans. Primarily, black cohosh root is used to help with gynecological problems such as painful periods, menopausal symptoms (including hot flashes, excessive sweating or night sweats, mood changes, vaginal dryness, etc.), and difficult childbirth. It may also be used to help support hormonal balance, improve mental health, decrease migraines, decrease pain associated with arthritis, enhance sleep quality, and decrease depression.
