Caprylic acid, also known as octanoic acid, is a medium-chain fatty acid (MTC) that is naturally found in tropical oils such as coconut oil and palm kernel oil as well as breast milk. Caprylic acid is thought to have antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. It may be used to help fight viruses, bacteria, and the yeast Candida albicans. Caprylic acid may also be used to enhance athletic performance, promote weight loss, combat acne, boost immune system function, decrease inflammation of the gut and intestines, promote digestive health, manage epilepsy, fight yeast infections, and lower cholesterol levels.
