Gotu kola (Centella asiatica), also known as the โ€œherb of longevityโ€, is a plant in the parsley family and is commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic medicine due to its potential health benefiting properties. It may be used to help boost brain performance, treat skin conditions (such as leprosy and psoriasis), promote liver and kidney health, reduce stress and anxiety, decrease symptoms related to depression, relieve insomnia, balance the nervous system, improve circulation, reduce swelling in the body, lower blood pressure, boost energy levels, relieve diarrhea, decrease the appearance of stretch marks and scars, enhance sexual potency, relieve joint pain, improve mental clarity, detoxify the body, and promote wound healing. Gotu kola may also be used to help with Alzheimer's disease, menstrual disorders, varicose veins, stomach ulcers, and blood clots.
