Vitex is one of the most widely used herbal medicines to address symptoms related to women's menstrual cycle. Vitex has been shown in studies to reduce symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and to help regulate irregular cycles. It is also commonly used as a way to reduce hot flashes around menopause. It is thought that vitex works, at least in part, by stimulating dopamine receptors, which has a number of positive effects on reproductive hormones.
