For example, if I emboss creams, should I repeat the embossing after a certain period of time? Does it lose its effectiveness over time?

Uschi, yes, you should repeat imprinting creams periodically. Best practice:

Re-emboss every 30 days for optimal effect.
Store in a cool, dark place to prolong IC strength.
