GERDs is the medical term used when stomach acid travels up through the Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES) and into into your esophagus where it causes symptoms including, burning sensations such as Heartburn, Indigestion, Non cardiac chest pain and Nausea. Symptoms may be worse at night, whilst lying supine, after a large fatty meal and after smoking or drinking alcohol.
One of the main causes of GERDs is Vagus Nerve dysfunction which slows down digestion/peristalsis in the stomach and causes Gastroparesis. In effect the undigested food sits for too long in the stomach and the whole digestive process is held up. This can cause a build up of Hydrochloric Acid in the stomach which may be forced back through the LES if the valve is weak especially in the presence of any connective tissue disorders such as EDS. If this is the case then the patient can also complain of GERD symptoms as above. We have created this PEMF as part of a series of 3 PEMFs to be run together. Firstly run one of our appropriate Vagus Nerve PEMFs, followed by our Gastroparesis PEMF and finally this Gastroesophageal Reflux PEMF.
