Progesterone, sometimes referred to as the “pregnancy hormone”, is a hormone that is largely produced in the ovaries; however, a small amount is made in the adrenal glands. It plays an important role in regulating the menstrual cycle, fertility, and pregnancy. During menopause, progesterone levels drop leading to uncomfortable symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood swings, dry skin, and trouble sleeping. Progesterone may be used to help boost progesterone levels and reduce symptoms of menopause. Additionally, progesterone may be used to help improve skin health, reduce signs of aging, and decrease bone loss.
