Methotrexate is an immunosuppressant that may be used to help with the treatment of some cancers and autoimmune diseases. It is prescribed, in high doses, in chemotherapy treatments for leukemias, neoplasia, or benign tumors. In smaller doses, methotrexate is most often given for inflammatory conditions including psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Crohn’s disease.
