Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs in or on the ovary. They are common and usually form during ovulation. Ovarian cysts are usually harmless and many women who have them do not display any symptoms. If a cyst is large, it may cause symptoms such as pelvic pain on the side of the cyst, bloating, heaviness in the abdomen, irregular and possibly painful menstruation, and urinary issues.
