Introducing Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields for Wellness

Anton SF
To date, Infopathy has offered ICs that were created with the help of different substances (i.e. the signal source is a substance). Now, we are excited to also offer another type of signal, which is known as Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF), and are generated based on different algorithms and theories. PEMF-based therapy has been used for many health issues for centuries and can even be dated back to as far as 2600 BC where they were described in an ancient treatise on health and disease called “The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine”. Nowadays, even NASA recognizes the benefits of PEMF therapy and uses it on their astronauts. This post will briefly discuss PEMF and its use in alternative therapy.

Functioning Cells are Essential for Wellbeing

Before presenting PEMFs, let's first take a quick look at the human body and, in particular, cells, the basic building block of life. The human body is a fascinating and complex structure containing, on average, about 30 to 40 trillion (i.e. 1012) cells! To give some perspective as to how big this number is, we have approximately 140 times more cells in our body than there are stars in the entire Milky Way galaxy! If that number wasn’t impressive, how many atoms do you think there are in one cell? Each cell is estimated to contain 100 trillion atoms (although the number of atoms depends on the type of cell). That means there are more atoms in the human body than the number of stars in the observable universe! With respect to cell types in the body, there are approximately 200 different types of cells having various shapes, sizes, and functions. Some examples of cell types include blood cells, skin cells, fat cells, nerve cells, etc. Although there are various types of cells in the body, they all depend on one another, either directly or indirectly, to ensure that the body functions correctly. When cells do not function properly, one’s health begins to deteriorate and one is more prone to disease and illnesses. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly give our cells a “tune-up” to reduce the risk of cell dysfunction. One way this can be done is through the use of Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMFs).

Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields – Stimulate the Body’s Self-Healing Process

It is now generally accepted that weak electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can initiate various healing processes such as bone repair, pain relief, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, depression, and knee osteoarthritis. Over recent years, research into pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) has gained momentum due to their beneficial effects on animals and humans. In fact, there are more than 10,000 scientific publications describing the effect of PEMFs and more than 2000 double-blind studies conducted around the world demonstrating that PEMF therapy is safe and effective for various conditions. So, what are PEMFs? PEMFs are low-energy, time-varying electromagnetic fields that stimulate and energize the cells of the body, which in turn triggers the body’s own natural healing functions. PEMFs are usually applied directly to the targeted area of the body or to the whole body. Moreover, PEMF may only be needed for short periods of time with the effects lasting for up to several hours. The intensity of PEMF systems varies and depends on how quickly one would like to see results – high intensities would be used to provide rapid relief of musculoskeletal pain; while low intensities would be better for gradual subtle changes. Moreover, for those who are electro-sensitive, it is better to use very low intensities since medium or high intensities may aggravate them. When compared to pharmaceutical agents, PEMF offers an alternative with fewer, if any, side effects. While pharmaceutical agents are normally used to mask the symptoms of illnesses, PEMF therapies focus on health and disease prevention. Additionally, therapeutic PEMFs can be designed to help with the negative effects of electrosmog, manmade EMFs that come from powerlines, cellphones, computers, etc. that have been shown to disturb cell metabolism.

PEMF Clinical Studies

Many clinical studies have reported the valuable effects of PEMFs, which include:

  •    reduce pain and inflammation;
  •    improve energy;
  •    enhance blood pressure and cholesterol levels;
  •    boost sleep quality;
  •    enhance immunity;
  •    improve nutrient uptake, cellular detoxification, and the ability to regenerate cells;
  •    accelerate repair of bone and soft tissue;
  •    enhance muscle function;
  •    decrease the effects of stress on the body; and
  •     improve blood oxygenation and circulation.

PEMF Therapy and Space

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is an organization that has shown great interest in PEMF research and the use of PEMF therapy for their astronauts. In fact, there was a 4-year study lead by Dr. Thomas Goodwin that focused on the use of various energy medicine devices (including PEMF therapy) on enhancing the growth and repair of tissues in mammals. It was found that PEMFs were the most effective at healing and regeneration. Further research into the parameters (e.g. intensity, frequency, waveform, etc.) showed that the best results occurred for low frequency (10 Hz, close to the frequencies of Earth), low intensity (~1-20 microtesla), rapidly varying PEMF signals. In essence, the benefits of these parameters included improved healing and regeneration of damaged (or diseased) tissue, greater cell longevity, and accelerated cell growth. This research resulted in a patent – US patent 7,601,114 B2, Oct 13, 2009 (Fig. 1).

Currently, there are many PEMF ICs available for use and we will be adding more periodically. To view the PEMFs, click here. To apply PEMFs directly to the body, see Method 3; and to transfer PEMF to water, see Method 1 or Method 2. Anton, when using the IC GlowPad as a PEMF does the effect continue in the body after the IC GlowPad has been shut off ?

Is this similar to the Bemer Mat?
