Fluconazole is used to treat fungal infections, primarily those caused by the fungus Candida which can affect the mouth, throat, esophagus, lungs, bladder, genital area, and blood. It can also be used to prevent candidiasis in people with weakened immune systems caused by, for example, bone marrow transplants.
